Nyinahin, Ashanti Region – In a tragic incident that unfolded in the early hours of today, one person has been confirmed dead and three others injured following a violent confrontation between military personnel and mourners in the Atwima Mponua District.
The confrontation occurred when a group of mourners, on their way to a cemetery, encountered a contingent of soldiers. Tensions escalated when military personnel confronted a mourner wearing camouflage attire, demanding that he immediately remove the garment.
While the individual complied by taking off his top, he refused to remove his trousers, citing concerns about being left completely exposed. This disagreement quickly spiraled into a serious altercation, during which gunshots were fired. Tragically, the mourner was shot in the head, and three others sustained injuries from stones and stray bullets.

The wounded individuals have since been transported to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for medical treatment.
