Meanwhile, defending champions Ashaiman, who received a bye in the first round, opened their tournament with a 3-1 penalty win over Tunga after a 1-1 draw. In the semi-finals, they overcame a determined Nsawam Zongo side, also on penalties, reaching their record-extending fourth final.
The highly anticipated final lived up to expectations, attracting dignitaries including the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, along with representatives from the National Chief Imam’s office. After a fiercely contested goalless draw, the title was decided by penalties.
Ashaiman seemed poised for victory after Adabraka missed an early penalty kick, but they failed to convert their final penalty, giving Adabraka another chance. Seizing this opportunity, Adabraka maintained their composure and completed an impressive comeback to win the shootout, claiming their first-ever Ramadan Cup title.
The glittering trophy and medals were presented to the champions by the Minister of Sports and Recreation, alongside the Chief Protocol Officer of the National Chief Imam’s Office.
The prizes were generously donated by Black Stars players Mohammed Kudus and Kamaldeen Sulemana, while Ernest Nuamah contributed two full sets of jerseys used by both finalists.
Tournament founder Tamimu Issah expressed his appreciation to the teams, supporters, media, and sponsors, highlighting the growing reputation of the Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup as one of Ghana’s premier community football tournaments.
