In a significant announcement, Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga disclosed that Parliament will convene additional sessions on Mondays and Saturdays, starting from July 7, 2025. This decision aims to facilitate the maturation of several Legislative Instruments prior to
Parliament’s recess, which will take place sine die.
Ayariga communicated these developments during the present
ation of the Business Statement for the seventh parliamentary week, scheduled to conclude on July 12, 2025. The Majority Leader, who also chairs the Business Committee, indicated that a total of 55 Ministers, along with the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, will be appearing before the House to respond to various questions throughout the week.

He highlighted that new bills may be introduced for First Reading, and urgent proposals could be navigated through all legislative stages within the day, adhering to Standing Order 160. Moreover, papers are expected to be presented, and committees will submit their reports for the House's consideration.
During this session, Ayariga reiterated that motions could be debated, leading to consequential resolutions as appropriate. He emphasized that, in accordance with Standing Order 216(2) and subject to Standing Order 67, the Committee is responsible for outlining the sequence of business to be undertaken.
In response to the Business Statement, Minority Leader Osahen Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin called upon Ayariga to ensure that the Electoral Commission Chairperson, Madam Jean Mensa, is scheduled to address the House regarding the forthcoming rerun of parliamentary elections in 19 polling stations within the Ablekuma North Constituency. This request underscores the ongoing dialogue and scrutiny regarding electoral processes in the region.
