In a significant step towards economic revitalization, the Technical Committee responsible for implementing the government's groundbreaking 24-hour policy has officially presented its policy document to the Speaker of Parliament. This crucial move comes ahead of the policy's formal launch scheduled for Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
Leading the delegation, Augustus Obuadum Tannoh highlighted the multifaceted nature of the initiative, which targets three core thematic areas: production, supply chain management, and enhancing human efficiency. Complementing these central pillars are eight sub-themes designed to stimulate job creation and boost overall productivity across various sectors.
Tannoh expressed optimism about the upcoming launch, revealing that President Mahama will unveil the Accelerated Export Development program, which serves as the backbone of the 24-hour initiative. He elaborated on the three main anchors of the program: Production Transformation, Supply Chain and Market Efficiency, and Human Capital Development. These areas aim to foster a robust economic environment conducive to sustained growth.
A key component of the 24-hour policy is Grow24, focused on advancing agricultural productivity. Meanwhile, Make24 targets the manufacturing sector, aiming to enhance efficiency and output. Connect24 addresses the intricacies of the supply chain, while Aspire24 seeks to inspire a transformative mindset among Ghanaians, reinforcing the importance of productivity and work ethic within the workforce and government structures. Tannoh emphasized that achieving the ambitious goals of this initiative requires a collaborative effort across the nation.
Reflecting on the cultural significance of the initiative, Tannoh noted that the essence of Ghana's rich and diverse culture plays a pivotal role in defining national identity. He articulated the importance of cultural heritage, which shapes Ghana's historical legacy and connects it with its diaspora. The program aims not only to foster economic growth but also to celebrate the powerful cultural expressions present in literature, dance, and cuisine.

Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, took the opportunity to underscore the transformative potential of the 24-hour policy. He stressed the need for a collective, bipartisan approach to ensure its successful implementation. Bagbin argued that it is crucial to avoid limiting the initiative to partisan or ethnic perspectives; instead, it should be embraced as a national endeavor.
He proposed that after the policy's launch, it should undergo a formal approval process through the Parliament to engage the people's representatives in meaningful debate. Such a step would strengthen the policy's legitimacy and ensure that it reflects the interests and needs of the populace.
Bagbin expressed enthusiasm for the fact that the 24-hour economy is more than just a campaign promise; it is an actionable plan set to invigorate Ghana's economy. The initiative envisions a shift towards continuous operations in key sectors, potentially integrating a three-shift system that enhances productivity around the clock.
As the nation prepares for the launch of this ambitious program, both government officials and citizens look forward to the expected advancements that the 24-hour policy promises, aiming to propel Ghana towards a brighter and more prosperous future.
